For the month of January we have selected 2 very fun books to enjoy! We are once again using:
for the book readings. The readers do such a great job, we want to share them with all of you!
Along with the books, we have put together packets to take home. We will be mass ordering a copy of one book from other libraries to rent and return. You will get to keep the other book, provided by the library! Along with one of the two books of the month, the kits will also come with activities to do and instructions. We have added a few more things to the kits; instruments, stickers, and coloring sheets. If some of the activities are too advanced for your little ones, we've provided extra fingerplays and weblinks to songs. We are doing all we can to make this enjoyable for you all! If you have any recommendations, please don't hesitate to let us know!
"Snappsy the Alligator" by Julie Falatko
“Snappsy the alligator is trying to go about his very ordinary day when a pesky narrator steps in to spice up the story with slanderous claims. Is Snappsy making crafty plans? Is he prowling for defenseless birds and soft, fuzzy bunnies? Is Snappsy a big, mean alligator who’s obsessed with snack foods that start with the letter P? It’s no wonder Snappsy won't invite the narrator to his party!”
"The Hula-Hoopin' Queen" by Thelma Godin
“Kameeka is confident that today she will finally beat her rival, Jamara, and become the Hula-Hoopin Queen of 139th Street. But then Mama reminds her that today is their neighbor Miz Adeline’s birthday, and Kameeka has a ton of chores to do to get ready for the party they are hosting. Kameeka’s disappointed to be stuck at home and can only think about the hoopin’ competition. Distracted, Kameeka accidentally ruins Miz Adeline s birthday cake, and has to confess to her that there won’t be a cake for her special day. But then Miz Adeline confesses something too: she’s also got the itch — the hula-hoopin’ itch!”
