June Online Storytime - Sneak Peak

Updated: May 14, 2021

Join in the fun this summer with Tails and Tales, our animal-themed storytime for June and July! For June, the little ones can enjoy our two book selections on cats! In July, we will focus on dogs. Learn more about what else we're doing for summer reading program for toddlers here: https://swantonpubliclibrary.org/toddlers-summer-reading

We hope you're enjoying May's books and activities! For the month of June we have selected 2 very fun books to enjoy! We are once again using:

for the book readings. The actors and actresses do such a great job, we want to share them with all of you!

Along with the books, we have put together packets again to take home. We will be mass ordering a copy of one book from other libraries to rent and return. You will get to keep the other book, provided by the library! Along with one of the two books of the month, the kits will also come with activities to do and instructions. We have added a couple of new things to the kits; colorful hand cymbals, stickers, and coloring sheets. If some of the activities are too advanced for your little ones, we've provided extra fingerplays and weblinks to songs. We are doing all we can to make this enjoyable for you all! If you have any recommendations, please don't hesitate to let us know!

"Me and My Cat?" by Satoshi Kitamura

"Late one night Nicholas sees a witch enter his bedroom and hears her say some magic words. When he wakes up the next morning, it doesn't take him long to realize something very strange is going on especially when he pulls at his whiskers!"

"Mice Twice" by Joseph Low

"Cat and Miss Mouse become involved in a round of uneasy hospitality when Miss Mouse accepts Cat’s dinner invitation. While Cat expects her to walk right into his trap, Miss Mouse outsmarts him by asking her close friend Dog to join her. The animals perform a literal game of cat-and-mouse through dinner invitations, continuously amping up their efforts until a hilarious and fitting conclusion results. Mice Twice is a charming, funny and thoughtful fable about friendship, cleverness, irony, self-awareness and manners."

June storytime kits will be available starting Monday, June 7th, along with the start of our Summer Reading Program!
