BOUNCE RHYME (bounce along with child in lap) On Top of Spaghetti (Tune: “On Top of Old Smokey”) On top of spaghetti all covered with cheese I lost my poor meatball when somebody sneezed (sneeze!) It rolled off the table, it rolled on the floor And then my poor meatball rolled out of the door (pretend to roll baby off lap) It rolled in the garden and under a bush And then my poor meatball was nothing but mush. (clap hands together) The mush was as tasty as tasty could be, And early next summer it grew to a tree. (raise arms like tree branches) The tree was all covered with beautiful moss It grew great big meatballs and tomato sauce! So if you eat spaghetti all covered with cheese, Hold on to your meatball and don't ever sneeze! (shake head no) ACTION RHYMES My Garden This is my garden; (extend one hand forward, palm up) I'll rake it with care, (make raking motion on palm with other hand) And then some flower seeds, I'll plant (planting motion) The sun will shine (make circle with hands) And the rain will fall, (let fingers flutter down to lap) And my garden will blossom (cup hands together, extend upward slowly) And grow straight and tall.
Strega Nona’s Seeds Grow
(Tune: "Farmer in the Dell")
Strega Nona plants the seeds
Strega Nona plants the seeds
Deep down inside the ground
Strega Nona plants the seeds
The rain clouds give them water
The rain clouds give them water
seeds need some water to drink
The rain clouds give them water
The sun gives heat and light
The sun gives heat and light
Seeds like it warm and bright
The sun gives heat and light
Anthony pulls the weeds
Anthony pulls the weeds
Seeds need the room to grow
Anthony pulls the weeds
The seeds grow into squash
The seeds grow into squash
Squash that are delicious
The seeds grow into squash
Pasta Pot
(Tune: "Are You Sleeping?")
Bubble bubble, bubble bubble
Pasta pot, pasta pot
Boil me up some pasta
Boil me up some pasta
Nice and hot! Nice and hot!
I am hungry, I am hungry
Time to sup, time to sup
Boil me up some pasta
Boil me up some pasta
Fill me up! Fill me up!
There is plenty, there is plenty
Pasta pot, pasta pot
There's enough for supper
There's enough for supper
Nice and hot! Nice and hot!
Simmer down, simmer down
Pot of clay, pot of clay
Wait until I'm hungry
Wait until I'm hungry
Another day, another day
Strega Nona’s Magic Pot
Strega Nona’s Magic pot
Cooked her pasta nice and hot.
Special words and kisses three,
Stopped the pot so magically.
Big Anthony thought he’d do the same;
He said words, the pasta came.
But when he tried to stop the pot,
More pasta bubbled nice and hot.
The people yelled and ran around,
“There’s too much pasta in our town!
Who can stop the magic pot?
From making pasta nice and hot?”
Strega Nona as you knew,
Figured out just what to do.
Big Anthony, it is now time
To let the punishment fit the crime.
